
Baked Teriyaki Chicken
INGREDIENTS:
2 lbs. Chicken thighs
1/2 cup shoyu
1/3 cup sugar
2 slices of ginger , crushed
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 tsp. sesame seed oil
green onions, chopped
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees, placing oven rack in center of oven.
2. In a small bowl mix all ingredients,except chicken, This is a basic
Teriyaki Sauce. Other variations can be made by adding other
ingredients to your own taste, such as chili pepper flakes for hot
Korean style. Increase sauce if making more chicken.
3. Marinate chicken with sauce for at least 2 hrs.
4. In a foil lined baking pan, place chicken, skin side down. No need to add extra sauce in pan. Enough sauce will come from
chicken.
5. Bake chicken for approx. 1 hour at 400 degrees. Turn chicken once after 30 minutes.
So skin side is up now.
6. For extra flavor and appearance, raise tray of cooked chicken about 5 inches under broiler and broil chicken for 5 minutes
or until skin is seared. This step makes the sauce caramelize and add lots of flavor.
