
Clay Pot Braised Pork
2 lbs pork butt
1 lb belly pork
Marinade sauce
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp shoyu
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp sesame seed oil
1 tsp Chinese 5 spice
1 clove star anise
Cut pork into large chuck pieces
Marinate pork in sauce for at least 1/2 hour
Additions to braised pork:
Shiitake mushroom
Bamboo shoots
Green onion stalks
Optional:
Woodear fungus
Dried shrimp
Fried tufu
½ cup thin mixture of corn starch/water
1. Place green onion stalks on bottom of Clay pot.
2. Place pork on bed of green onions.
3. Place mushrooms and bamboo shoots in and around pork.
4. Pour 1/2 cup water in with ingredient.
Cornstarch water is poured in later when pork is all cooked.
5. Cover and simmer until pork is done. Check periodically to make sure there is liquid and contents don’t dry out and burn. Add little water if needed.
6. Near the end of cooking, add cornstarch water to thicken.
Simmer little more . Gently mix braised pork and ingredients together.
