Brown Gravy from Scratch


Ingredients

1 1/2 tablespoons butter

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 cup beef broth

1/2 cup evaporated milk

salt and pepper to taste


1.   Brown the ground beef in a medium skillet over medium-high heat, until meat is no longer pink. Spoon out excess fat into fat dispose can. Set aside

2. Melt the butter or margarine in a medium  

    saucepan over medium heat, using a spring 

    whip.

    Slowly add the flour, stirring constantly, to form a            

    light brown roux.


3. Pour in beef broth and milk, mixing well, using  

    a wooden spoon.  Add ground beef, then season      

    with salt and pepper to taste.


4. Serve hot over toast, rice, mashed potatoes,  

     whatever.
