1 1b. golden brown sugar
1 1/2 Cups water
1 can (12-13 oz) coconut milk
2 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil or Peanut Oil
1 lb. mochi flour
roasted sesame seeds
1/2 Cup shredded coconut (optional)
1. Dissolve Brown Sugar in tap water.
2. Add coconut milk and oil to sugar water mixture. Stir into flour.
Consistency should be of thick pancake batter. You do not need to use
all the liquid.
3. Mix well to make sure that batter is smooth and free of lumps.
(Use a sieve, wire whip or hands)
4. Pour batter into a round microwave safe pan sprayed with Pam.
Note: 4 1/2 inch diameter tupperware soup cup works well.
Larger size containers will need longer cooking time.
5. Cover loosely with plastic wrap.
6. Bake for 4-5 minutes in microwave, depending on the strength of your microwave oven.
7. Invert gao onto a plastic plate. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Wrap with plastic wrap until ready to eat.
