Slow cooker Laulau

 

4 lbs Pork butt

1 lb. Luau leaves, taro leaves, Blanched

2 -3 Tbsp. Hawaiian Salt

6 medium to large ti leaves

Slow cooker and slow cooker cooking bag (any supermarket)

 

 

  1. Cut pork butt into large pieces about 2 inch X 2 inch. Place in a large bowl.
  2. Sprinkle Hawaiian salt over pork and mix in.
  3. Line slow cooker with cooking bag. This makes for easy clean up .
  4. Place 2 ti leaves on bottom of lined cooker and 2 leaves at each end, to be folded over to cover contents.
  5. Place 1/2 the amount of leaves on the bottom, then arrange all the pork on top of leaves. Put the rest of the leaves on the top of the pork.
  6. Cover the contents with the remaining ti leaves and fold over the 2 side leaves.
  7. Cover with lid and set cooking temperature and time.
  8. Cook on High setting for 5 1/2  to 6 hours. Depending on how full your slow cooker is. Luau leaves need to be cooked till soft and mushy, pork should be very tender.
