
Slow cooker Laulau
4 lbs Pork butt
1 lb. Luau leaves, taro leaves, Blanched
2 -3 Tbsp. Hawaiian Salt
6 medium to large ti leaves
Slow cooker and slow cooker cooking bag (any supermarket)
- Cut pork butt into large pieces about 2 inch X 2 inch. Place in a large bowl.
- Sprinkle Hawaiian salt over pork and mix in.
- Line slow cooker with cooking bag. This makes for easy clean up .
- Place 2 ti leaves on bottom of lined cooker and 2 leaves at each end, to be folded over to cover contents.
- Place 1/2 the amount of leaves on the bottom, then arrange all the pork on top of leaves. Put the rest of the leaves on the top of the pork.
- Cover the contents with the remaining ti leaves and fold over the 2 side leaves.
- Cover with lid and set cooking temperature and time.
- Cook on High setting for 5 1/2 to 6 hours. Depending on how full your slow cooker is. Luau leaves need to be cooked till soft and mushy, pork should be very tender.
